As the granddaughter of survivors of the Armenian Genocide and as the daughter of refugees from Turkey, Karine Birazian Shnorhokian draws strength and inspiration from her family history, and she is dedicated to ensuring that their past is never forgotten. She is the former Eastern Region Director for the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA). To date, Karine has built coalitions with various human rights organizations, lobbied on Capitol Hill for genocide and human rights issues, and organized and spoken at community events, and she has mentored high school and college age students to assume advocacy roles. Karine has leveraged her Carl Wilkens Fellowship to empower young citizen leaders to sustain the anti-genocide movement over the long-term.
